Drop thresholds are the most underrated skill
Three drops in a row are a sign of session fatigue, not a hand to chase. Set a personal drop threshold for the week, the day and the round. Below the threshold, continue. Above it, declare-drop on the first turn, ignore the cost, and treat the lost round as a price paid for the next round.
The desk logs the typical threshold across formats: 30 points for 13-card, 40 for deals, 80 for gin. The numbers are not arbitrary. they are the points at which a continuation begins to cost more than a planned drop.
