Why points are the discipline of the deck
The points table charges the loser at the end of each round. The desk recommends reading the table before any stake is taken. A 13-card points table usually follows a face-value system with a maximum penalty for an incorrect show.
The joker rule in points
The joker replaces the missing rank in an impure sequence. In a pure sequence the joker is not used. If the joker is unplaced at declaration, it carries the maximum penalty. Read the joker as a discipline signal, not as a wild card.
The clean-show bonus
A clean show is a declaration with zero unmatched cards. Pool tables usually add a bonus on a clean show and a penalty on an incorrect show. The bonus multiple is set per format. verify it on the operator's rulebook before joining the table.

Three reads the desk returns to. (1) The face-value system. is it the standard 1-10 with face cards at ten points? (2) The joker penalty. what does the table charge for an unplaced joker? (3) The clean-show bonus multiple. is it format-specific or platform-specific?
